Are You Ready for a Breakthrough and It's Just Not Happening?

.
Do you feel like you're ready for a breakthrough in your life
(Love? Money? Work you love? Inner peace?) and it's just not happening?

That's frustrating. Crazy making.

It would be soooo helpful if at those times if we could see the bigger picture of what was going on. Then we'd understand why we were stuck -- and what to do about it!

At those times, what I'm about to say may seem like the farthest thing from the truth, but...

There is a way we can shift our own awareness and see that bigger picture.

To do that, we have to ask which part of the self is doing the seeing.

When our focus is stuck in the Personality (or ego) our perspective is limited.

From the personality we can't see much, mostly just the same-old same-old.

When we open our awareness to the expanded perspective of True Self, we find a panorama of clarity, understanding and deep inner peace.

There we can see new options and actions. Blocks, solutions and higher purpose are revealed so we can be really ready for those breakthroughs. Or we may see that there is an entirely different, better path for the next part of our life that is only visible from this higher perspective.

Today is a perfect day to choose how you want your next week to go! Here is a simple 2-part exercise for that.

STEP #1:
Right now ask yourself,
"Where do I want my set point for the week to be?"

Notice the first answers that come to you. Empowered? Seeing the bigger picture? Full of harmony and support for reaching my highest goals? That's valuable information! It sets your intention.

STEP #2:
Today and at least once each day for the next week, ask yourself:
"Which part of me is at the helm? Is my personality or true self making the decisions, setting goals, and deciding what is and isn't possible for me?"

If you feel stuck or grumpy, it's probably your personality. If you feel "in the flow", you've got a whistle-while-you-work attitude and things are happening easily, it's probably your true self.

Using your mindfulness this way helps you notice whether your focus is in your personality or true self. The more aware you are of when your focus is in your personality, the more easily you can then choose to drop your awareness deeper, into your true self.

You will find more in-depth descriptions of personality and true self, and exercises for shifting to true self's expansive awareness every day, in my book, Coming Home: The Return to True Self.

Thanks for the post! I especially resonate with the part about being grumpy; some days the “grumpy” part of my self rules. Now I have ideas on how to curb those feelings.

I know what you mean, Kimberly. It helps to realize there’s an alternative on those grumpy days. 🙂

What came to mind when I saw the week ahead was “Effortlessly getting done the things that really matter.” This includes not getting sidetracked. I’m going to set that intention and check in daily to see if I’m following that track. Actually, I think I’m going to get out my index cards with little grids, which I use when I’m in dire need of focus. I’m a check mark addict — love to see those check marks add up! Thanks for the nudge, Martia!

Gina, I like your phrase “Effortlessly getting done the things that really matter” and plan to adopt right along with you. And that’s very smart to combine the effortless of true self with the mental/index card organization of the personality.

What really stood out for me was your statement:

“Which part of me is at the helm? Is my personality or true self making the decisions, setting goals, and deciding what is and isn’t possible for me?”

I find that sometimes I get so caught up in the “doing” of life that my personality ends up at the helm. When I am in the “being” of life it feels like my true self. For this week I am going to focus more on the “being” of life. Afterall, we are human beings, not human doings right?

Thank you for the focus and direction Martia.

Well put, Brenda. You get it! Such a simple thing but it makes a huge difference.

This was my favorite part of this post:

“Which part of me is at the helm? Is my personality or true self making the decisions, setting goals, and deciding what is and isn’t possible for me?”

Brilliant and a great question to bring your TRUE self forth!
