Are you too hard on yourself?
If you get a great idea or want to try something new and then your mind says, "You'll never be able to do that!" or "Who do you think you are?", that's what I'm talking about. You're being hard on yourself.
That's your inner critic making you feel small and inadequate.
In the quieter version of the inner critic, you just start feeling discouraged and stuck. And easily distracted. Like your mind is keeping you from moving forward. Because it's afraid you'll fail. Or afraid you'll succeed and, goodness gracious, then what??!!
And even more exhausting, no matter how much you do or accomplish, it's never enough. After the adrenaline high of reaching your goal wears off, you feel let down, empty, like you should be doing more.
So you do more. And more. And more. That's an endless hamster wheel! And a recipe for burnout, tension headaches and serious health problems farther down the road.
Maybe these aren't exactly your scenarios, but...
If your inner critic holds you back in any way, or discourages you or dampens your joy by making sure you know what your flaws and inadequacies are, I've got a better idea.
You might want to be in the "Heal the Inner Critic" class I'll be starting soon in Sebastopol, CA.
